allsanitylost : Mar 8th, 2012 at 10:35 GMT 1 point cool quiz. Never seen Abbr as an abbreviation of abbreviation before though. Have seen abbv. Fortunately, with only four letters, I had time to try every combination of letters and finally got it.
needapausebutton : Mar 8th, 2012 at 16:25 GMT 2 points @allsanitylost: Thanks for your comment. Ironically, one of the sites I used as a source is called Abbreviations.com (http://www.abbreviations.com/bs.aspx?st=ABBREVIATION&SE=2). Then I typed "abbr" into dictionary.com to double-check and got confirmation that it was considered an abbreviation (at least by Random House Dictionary). I do realize, that many words can be abbreviated many ways, and that many sources are not comprehensive enough to include all variations. I did google "abbv" and got a couple hits for "abbreviation"; but when I googled "abbr" I got far more. I wish I could include variations, but that's impossible in a mixed-word game.
rockgolf : Mar 15th, 2012 at 03:30 GMT 3 points Any way to put in Morse code or Braille?
needapausebutton : Mar 15th, 2012 at 16:13 GMT 3 points Yes, but I think it would be ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ● ● ● ● ● ▬ ● ▬ ● ▬ ● ● for the players ;)

mustango : Mar 16th, 2012 at 04:05 GMT 27 points Funny how a four-letter scramble is the hardest of the bunch
needapausebutton : Mar 16th, 2012 at 04:12 GMT 6 points Thanks to Sporcle for the publishing. Also, a special thanks to bowsntoys, for continual advice and encouragement -- during the development of this game, and several others as well -- it has been greatly appreciated!
ElisDaddy : Mar 16th, 2012 at 04:15 GMT 5 points Well, I screwed that one up in one swell foop.
druhutch : Mar 16th, 2012 at 04:35 GMT 3 points Love the creativity behind this quiz and happy to see it published. I just noticed one thing, though: Shouldn't the 'N' in 'hyphenated' be in the first half of the scrambled clue? The way it is now it would be unscrambled "HYPHE-NATED" and hyphen/line breaks are supposed to come after full syllables, right? Obviously not a huge deal but I was curious about that.
elcropsziuq : Mar 16th, 2012 at 05:07 GMT 2 points Nice quiz! I liked it. along the lines of rockgolf I thought of ASL (or rather fingerspelling) lol.
needapausebutton : Mar 16th, 2012 at 05:14 GMT 2 points @druhutch: I believe you are correct, and I should have placed the hyphen after the letter "N" and included the "N" in the upper portion. I'll ask Sporcle Admin if they can adjust it. I apologize to all for this error.
HimuraOkami : Mar 16th, 2012 at 06:54 GMT 4 points What an awesome idea for a game! A bit kitschy, but so much fun it doesn't matter!
TheTragicReturn : Mar 16th, 2012 at 11:30 GMT 9 points This is the best Mixed Word I've played. Nice work, needapausebutton!
Sackgirl : Mar 16th, 2012 at 11:36 GMT 5 points Quite challenging but a great idea :)
Tony_A : Mar 16th, 2012 at 13:50 GMT 2 points I was thrown off by the abbreviation clue for a bit since it was in all caps.
Spydermonkey : Mar 16th, 2012 at 17:05 GMT 2 points Never heard of a spoonerism in my life.
needapausebutton : Mar 16th, 2012 at 17:25 GMT 4 points @Spydermonkey: A spoonerism is an error in speech or deliberate play on words in which corresponding consonants, vowels, or morphemes are switched. It is named after the Reverend William Archibald Spooner, Warden of New College, Oxford. Although it often happens between wifferent dords, it can also occur between the byllasles of one word. ;)
ezois : Mar 16th, 2012 at 19:09 GMT 1 point That was fun. I had a hard time with the 4th from the end until I realized that there was more than one of them.
jim_fez : Mar 16th, 2012 at 19:11 GMT 5 points clever idea for the quiz, easier than it first appears but that 'RABB' fooled me
secretz2u : Mar 17th, 2012 at 02:21 GMT 1 point no pig latin? :)
needapausebutton : Mar 17th, 2012 at 20:38 GMT 1 point Another quick word of thanks to Sporcle Admin. for so quickly fixing the hyphenation error mentioned above!
thegiant : Mar 27th, 2012 at 18:34 GMT 1 point Annoyed! Put reserved instead of reversed! Still liked the quiz though.
Mimbleton : Jun 19th, 2012 at 16:11 GMT 2 points Rhymes with "Shermy" ... rejected!
needapausebutton : Jun 20th, 2012 at 14:51 GMT 2 points @Mimbs: I don't think I could have made that clue any easier; You were supposed to type in "Shermy with Shermy" ;) - pause
Robinh2 : Sep 16th, 2012 at 00:16 GMT 4 points Very clever. I like this.
Glim : Oct 28th, 2012 at 12:39 GMT 4 points Brilliantly original! lmxtieocana drosw!!!!
needapausebutton : Oct 29th, 2012 at 17:37 GMT 2 points Thanks for the kind feedback!
