| I significant proportion of the answers are incorrect, some alarmingly so. No one knows who invented the wheel. It was almost certainly developed simultaneously in a number of areas. Exactly the same applies to writing. Sanitation would have been developed independently all over the world in pre-history. The earliest "modern" examples of sanitation appear to be in the Indus Valley. Turkey (as the Sublime Ottoman State) did not exist until over three millenia after the quoted date!) The safety pin was invented in Greece around 1400BC. The first demonstrations of electical telegraphy were in Germany. The first commercial application was in the UK. (The US lags well behind). The first fixed winged aeroplane was invented in the UK over 50 years before the Wright brothers. Indeed their achievement only replicated the same feat achieved in New Zealand the previous year. Wireless Telegraphy was first demonstrated in the US. (The only Italian connection was the improvements made by Marconi, but he was working in the UK). The television was invented in the UK in 1925. The video camera was invented in the UK in he early 1930s. The clock radio was being sold commercially at least 20 years before the attributed date. The inventor is disputed, but was probably not British. I have only commented on the answers that I immediately knew were incorrect from my general knowledge. Some of the other answers and dates might possibly be correct. |
