| Granted, there's plenty here to argue about, but it does show how little the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame respects many of these rock n' roll bands that had many hits over the course of decades. I'm not saying that should be the only criteria, but certainly ELO or Foreigner's popular appeal wasn't merely a fluke (hint: they actually did write very good rock songs). Compare the volume of their hits to critic darling Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Bonnie Raitt, Patti Smith or Run DMC, all of whom are in the Hall. Fine in their own rights, but the fact that they're in before any consideration is even made towards Rush, Iron Maiden or Deep Purple is beyond me. |
