The data for this quiz are from the United Nations 2009 Human Development Report. Ratings are based on life expectancy, literacy rates, school enrollment, the country's economy, and other factors. Note that the data for the study was collected in 2007, before the global financial collapse, which almost certainly had an effect on these rankings.

Interesting quiz. Just one nitpick: It's Sporcle convention only to accept "USA", rather than "US".

Hong Kong is not a country. Either the title should be changed to reflect this, or there should be an indication of some sort next to 24.

Augh, I saw the 2009 date on the source so I didn't even bother to try Iceland.

I love that Brunei is on here with all the mass of Western nations. And yeah, Hong Kong is an administrative region of China unless Wikipedia has lied to me.

Everyone has their "I got the stupid stuff but missed the obvious one" moments, but I think for me, getting Andorra, Brunei and Liechtenstein while missing the UK ranks right up there

If you give 7 minutes, it turns into "name all the countries not in central or south america or africa or central asia." sad, but true.

the reason I included Hong Kong was because it was rated separately in the UN report, but I did make the quiz accept China as an answer for Hong Kong. I also took some time off.

Good quiz, but I'd make Hong Kong a bonus answer

it takes China for Hong Kong, but not Hong Kong for Hong Kong.

Any list with this title that doesn't have the United States number 1 is bogus.

I don't understand what Israel is doing on lists like these. They're constantly at war with areas they occupy, they and Iran keep threatening each other with annihilation, and they're hated by the majority of Asia, Europe and Africa. Sure, sounds like a nice place to live.

Other than "Best Country to live in"(Because this doesn't rate that) no complaints, I made the same quiz but made enough errors.

minor nitpick - you should setup the correct plural for 'country' in the game edit section

People who hate on Israel should try living there. When I lived there, I got some of the best medical care I've ever received. And, contrary to what the news stations and papers tell you, it's not a war zone. It's an intellectual civilized country. Also, to 1447, Israel's not at war with the West Bank, which is the only area it's occupying. It hasn't been in decades.

@NatalijaS: What about Hamas and Gaza and the December 2008-January 2009 conflict in which many Palestinian children died? What about the trade in prostitutes that are trafficked from Russia and other places and sold into sexual slavery in brothels?

@Bart122333: The weather is probably better. To be honest, I find really wet, rainy Northern European-style societies boring. I would rather live in southern Europe where things are more colourful, or at least hot. I would choose northern Europe over Africa, though.

@1447 By those criteria USA shouldn't make the list either ;)
