| myach, what you're forgetting is that OBP, OPS, WAR, VORP, etc., have only come into common use in the last maybe 20 years. Andre Dawson has a low OBP simply because at the time it wasn't a common stat. Do you hold Cy Young's low K/9 rate against him, too? Pitchers at that time pitched to contact. Stats are ever evolving, and to use a relatively modern stat to disqualify Dawson despite his other numbers (Gold Gloves, stolen bases, home runs) is disingenuous.
