| Some of the most populated ones aren't actually cities, but "partidos". A "partido" is a subdivision of Buenos Aires province (much like counties are subdivisions of U.S. states), and can include several cities. For example, La Matanza (ranked 2nd) is a "partido" and San Justo is one of its cities. The majority of populous "partidos" are suburbs of Buenos Aires city. That explains the large difference between B.A. metro area (roughly 13 million people) and B.A. city proper (under 3 million). And, being so close to Buenos Aires, you won't find them in normal scale maps of Argentina. |
