Oxymorons (Oxymora?)
An oxymoron is two contradictory words placed next to each other. "Virtual reality" is an oxymoron because virtual and reality are opposites of each other but combine to make a recognizable phrase.

A huge thanks to needapausebutton for his help in the production of this quiz. Enjoy the quiz, everyone, and I hope you find this quiz to be awfully good! (Just for reference, that oxymoron missed the cut for appearing in this quiz.)

“It’s fairly obvious that this quiz responds to the needs of accomplished players,” said the intelligent curator.
Wait, one of those phrases is an oxymoron….

Hot chili makes sense- hot chilly would not. A number of others don't seem to be true oxymorons without some stretching....and I asked my friend Shaq and he said there IS such a thing as hot ice.

Have I heard the phrase "hot ice" before? Or am I making that up in my head?

Hot ice has been replaced to clear up any confusion. If you have any other questionable pairs, list them and I will either give an explanation or replace them with one of the oxymorons in the very extensive list that is my source.

Don't think I agree with "blind eye" as an oxymoron--the eye is the anatomical thing, whether or not it functions with the same purpose as the majority of eyes. And we could say "lover's quarrel" as an oxymoron paints a truly unrealistic picture of actual relationships, but I'll give you poetic license on that one :)

Blind eye is an oxymoron because the function of the eye is to see but if it is blind, it cannot. A lovers' quarrel has the obvious self contradiction, and the fact that it occurs frequently throughout life does not make it oxymoronic. However, if someone else complains, then ill replace it.

I agree with christkotx: many of these aren't oxymorons. The source list seems to be entirely dubious. As for blind eye, you might as well say "closed eye" is an oxymoron because it's not fulfilling the eye's obligation of seeing. Tumor is just a growth, so of course its being benign or malignant doesn't make it an oxymoron/tautology in either case. Pool table: what? Only if you think it means swimming pool. This quiz is largely nonsense.

Is the answer to this question 'no'?
I know it's not an oxymoron, but it's very opposite-y.

A tumor isn't inherently malignant or benign. You classify a tumor as harmful or not harmful, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to say a benign tumor is oxymoronic. Blind eye feels like a bit of stretch, but I see where you're going with that. A few others if you squint could be, but it still is a stretch.
