Oops, fixed. I'm really surprised that so many apparently just give up at "Miami". I put in Miami-Florida, University of Miami, U of M, UM & The U. And for the other: Miami-Ohio, Miami University, MU, Miami U and Miami of Ohio. Oh well.

the U is more well known as Miami than Miami (Ohio), so i think you should accept miami for the U and the full name for ohio. also, i think texas am should be accepted sans ampersand (without the &) eg: USC is the University of Southern California, and not South Carolina, as the one in california is the more accomplished program.

Yeah, I'd thought about doing those that way. Well, OK, just because you asked so nicely.

Hmm, just as I'd worried, Miami of Ohio suffers when I allow The U to take sole possession of their name. Guess there's no really good way to do it, sorry RedHawks.

I recall the father, son and donkey walking to town. No, I do believe it's called "Miami University". Try "Miami U". Or even just "MU" if that's too arduous.

in almost all other college football quizzes, solely "miami" will get you both schools. i think that it would be the easiest way to solve the situation, because a lot of people will just try that and once they see that Miami OH wasnt up there they would think that the school isnt there at all

On this particular quiz your idea would net these stats: Western Michigan, 13.9%; Bowling Green, 14.4%; Toledo, 20.6%; Miami (OH), 90.8%. That would be absurd.

The fact that accepting "Miami" for "Miami of Ohio" would result in people getting credit for it despite not knowing Miami of Ohio is not actually a particularly good reason to not accept it. Who cares? The most important thing is that people who knows the answer get credit for it, not that people who don't know it do not.

Pshew. Nope. First, people thinking of the university in Ohio don't need to type "Miami of Ohio", or even know that it's in Ohio. When they type in "Miami" and today's far more famous institution comes up, they can then type in their institution's actual name: "Miami University." Who cares? I care. I like stats. I'm curious about them. That's why I made this thing. I want them to be as pure as possible. From the stats I can see that probably 90% of people thinking of Miami (OH) can figure out how to get the credit (and a very tiny percentage of them like to complain about the tiny extra step). Look at it in a good way: when the Miami-Florida people here had to further identify that school, at least two-thirds of them couldn't do it. You guys win *that* contest hands down.

You can keep arguing about Miami of Ohio, mplozkill, but you're wrong. Just get over it and accept it for both.

I typed in "fresno state" and it didn't accept it; I didn't try "state" for penn st or ohio st because I picked them early when I was going slower.

Right Steve, I wondered about that too. Is that what everyone does, set them all for "st" *and* for "state"? (and "st."??) I'll stick "state " on 'em all, I guess.
