It doesn't take "Hughes" for Ted Hughes, although it takes some surnames. Also, the poets before Jonson (and sometimes before Dryden) are not generally recognised as official Poets Laureate: the British royal family's official website lists Dryden as the first - http://www.royal.gov.uk/TheRoyalHousehold/OfficialRoyalposts/PoetLaureate.aspx - although Jonson and Davenant held similar roles. Wikipedia has some early ones named without any references to justify most of them.

I think there may be a typo in Ted Hughes's answer field: as pottedsu says, it currently doesn't accept just "Hughes", but it gets that answer from typing "and", "the", etc. Nice quiz, though!

Great quiz. By the by, the plural of poet laureate is poets laureate not poet laureates. It probably doesn't matter that much.
