@MJM: Do you know where the title of this song comes from? A 1973 song by Murray McLaughlan called "Farmer's Song". The chorus goes "Straw hat and old dirty hankie / Moppin' a face like a shoe / Thanks for the meal / Here's a song that is real / From the kid from the city to you". Actually made top 10 in BNL's hometown of Toronto.

Thanks for the info! I know Steven Page wrote it about the farmer who loved Anne Murray. Such a great song! I saw BNL and Steven Page live within the last week, great guys!

I never realized until now that the line is 'don't mean to alarm her'. I'm not sure what I thought it was, maybe harm her. Very fun quiz, especially for a crazy fan! :)

Couple of errors, at least compared with the versions that I know: "Put you UP upon a pedestal so high"; "You say you love me; is that THE truth?".
