| A good idea for a quiz but, unfortunately, I fear you may need to establish a more definitive source for the dates of foundation (or else be prepared for lengthy emails from outraged Oxonians pouring scorn on your efforts). I think most histories of OU make Univ the oldest college so putting Teddy Hall at the top of the list is a brave move - especially when the OU website gives a date of 1278 (although SEH as is only received its Royal Charter in 1957) and the College itself states on its website that the Hall has no recorded date of foundation! Similarly, while it is true that Harris Manchester was founded in 1786 that was, as its name implies, in Manchester (and it only moved to Oxford in 1810)! |
