| This quiz is actually false, it is the only list I have seen that is distinctly different. For starters, obesity is not the same as overweight, so your title is labeled incorrectly. Also, UAE and Saudi Arabia, even AUSTRALIA (who recently passed the US in terms of percentage) are much more overweight than the US, as well as several Pacific Island nations (i.e. Nauru, it's the world's most obese country). Mexico is very close to the US in percentage of overweightness as well. And no, actually the US is not the world's most obese country. It is not even the most overweight. However, there is a larger obese percentage in the US. The first thing you need to know is the BMI system has MAJOR flaws. You can be tall and average looking, but you can be labeled as obese. Or you can be in excellent health, have large muscles, and still be labeled as obese. So I would drop 5-10% of the obese population out of this situation (not saying to drop it out of the quiz, just this information I am giving on the US). So about 50% of Americans are actually overweight due to fat. Of this 50%, about 15-20% is obese. Meaning 15-20% of Americans are obese, and 30-35% are just simply overweight. The US is not the most obese, but technically one of the most obese. It is definitely between spots 10 and 11. But, the US does have the largest population of obese people, however we are not using that in this situation, just percentage. |
