Well, any list that includes Pittsfield, Mass. clearly is a thorough list. Never thought I'd see any town in Berkshires on a sporcle quiz!

If you look at the source, they aren't just looking at the percent. They are also factoring in the number of synagogues and the number of kosher restaurants. So presumably, there are other cities with more than 1.2% jewish residents, they just didn't make it on the list. Kind of a weird way to do it, but oh well ...

JRL: Yes it factored in # of Kosher restaurants and Synagogues per capita but it seemed like TMI to include all of that in the hint....

Does this imply metro areas or just cities proper? Because if it was cities proper then I'm sure my home suburb would make this list.

MisterF: The source (The Daily Beast) isn't completely clear on that but I am assuming from the wording it is cities proper, rather than metro areas.

This must be metro areas or there wouldn't be any reason to combine Baltimore and Washington.

Definitely metro areas. We know that the Miami metro area encompasses Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, etc. If they were separate, they would most certainly have a higher percentage than Pittsburgh, Massachusetts -- and Sarasota, for that matter.

A better format would to have the cities listed in order of percentage.
