	I dont see how any part of Mississippi is in Appalachia. I've never seen any mountains there.

	It is true that Mississippi's highest point is only 806 feet (Woodall Mountain), but it is technically part of the Appalachian Mountains.

	The federal government defined Appalachia according to patterns of economic development, culture, and transportation in the 1960s as a way to confront longstanding poverty. The commission designated the counties listed above, which provides a somewhat expansive and dated definition of Appalachia (some of the Georgia counties were rural then, are now affluent Atlanta suburbs) but it's really all we have.
