Great quiz! Wish I could turn it into a proper picture quiz for you, but such is not my power.

For the 2nd row, 1st image, I was sure that this was a metal band. What a shock when I saw who they really were. lol

When I was searching old pictures of Cream, I struggled to find one where I could identify Eric Clapton.

I love the quiz. On the top right, I omitted the first name, and didn't get it. Would you be willing to accept that?

I got them all but Triumph and Cream. Future additions could include Eve 6, Fastball, Semisonic, Marcy Playground...basically most of 1998's big one hit wonders.

In addition to Karmacode's suggestions, there's a ton of non-famous bands: Ash, Better Than Ezra, The Minutemen, fIREHOSE, silverchair, Babes in Toyland, Chevelle, Ben Folds Five, Husker Du, The Melvins, Primus, Presidents of the United States of America...

Yeah, but how many would you recognize by a picture? How about A-Ha, Muse or Peter, Paul & Mary?

Get ready to vote me down into hell, but I'm sick of seeing Green Day on so many Music Quizzes; call me when they do something noteworthy (since Nimrod or Dookie), and no that "Broadway Show" they've inspired does not count (#commercial2004albumlackingnotewrothytriumphbeyondmediaacclaim(s))

I had no idea Triumph was only a trio. Their music is so complex I assumed that they had to have either a synth player or a rhythm guitarist. Great, GREAT band.

I took a liking to Triumph when I was at college in upstate NY, almost on the Canadian border.

ChiSoxND12: I don't consider myself a Green Day fan boy, but I would consider "American Idiot" to be noteworthy. Anyway, great quiz. Guessed Triumph and got it, but couldn't figure out Cream.

I feel like if you're asking folks to name bands, then one should have to name the ____ _______ Experience, not just the headliner's name. Fun quiz!

Do the Bee Gees really count as a trio? As front men, yes, they were usually a trio (not so much in the early days, however), but they always played with other musicians. Maybe I'm nitpicking too much.

My comment got voted to shreds, but I didn't want to give away any answers. What I was suggesting is that "The Hendrix Experience" be accepted. I didn't put Jimi, and therefor didn't get the answer.

One of the first I thought of was Triumph. Sad to see they've been banished. At least they had their shot, unlike the fairly recognizable Cheap Trick.

Myitbos: I though of Triumph as well though I don't think they were ever that famous. Was also hoping to see the Thompson Twins.

@nearlyextinct: A couple of points to consider--
1--They were a trio during the most successful period of their career. (The corollary, of course, is that this was the group that American audiences became familiar with.)
2--If you're going to get that nitpicky, you can say the same thing about Crosby, Stills and Nash. Not only did the group expand by adding Neil Young temporarily, but Crosby and Nash performed as a duo.
