| This was a good idea, but the data is far from comprehensive. I wasn't sure what to aim for. The title is understandable, but a bit misleading. To many Civil War buffs, "U.S. Civil War Generals" would pertain only to Union forces when identifying personnel. The term "American Civil War Generals" would include Union and Confederate. Foremost, the data is incomplete. The Confederate loss in general officers at Franklin, for example, is a notable feature of that battle, yet you only list one. Four others besides Cleburne were killed outright, and one mortally wounded. It effectively destroyed the Confederate Army of Tennessee and ruined John Bell Hood. Good idea, you just need to complete your lists. |
