	The "Potential net migration index" in the Gallup poll measures the proportional population growths (or shrinkages, for countries that didn't make the quiz) that would occur if everyone in the world could move to their desired country. This means that position on the list is determined to some extent by population (e.g., more people want to move to the US than any other country in the world, but it's not #1 on this list because the total number of would-be immigrants is relatively smaller than some other countries relative to its population). Whether or not the PNMI is positive--and thus whether or not a country makes the list at all--is not affected by size, though, which is part of the reason I chose to draw the line where I did.

	@Antithesys: Actually, it's the other way around; I've changed it to reflect that. @CitizenSnips: I assume that Botswana is the country-of-choice for a number of people from Zimbabwe and DRC (which are at the far bottom of this list). I don't have anything to back this up except a few lines in its Wikipedia article about how its economy is strong, but it seems like the most logical explanation.

	I'm surprised Switzerland is not on the list. Portugal at 21st! Would never guessed Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Botswana, Iceland, Malta, Namibia and Lebanon.

	Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Two gulf states with a lot of money and have all the work done by foreigners. It's not on this list but most of the population of UAE is foreign citizens staying as workers and expats. It's not on that level with those two countries, but they have a large foreign population noetheless. Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Filipinos, Chinese, Africans...you name it. Everyone with a manual labor work is of foreign extraction, you can believe that.

	Botswana is one of the wealthiest countries in Africa, and there's probably jobs to be had in the diamond industry. The AIDS rate is sky-high there, but it's not like the rest of Southern Africa is free of that problem.

	This list has limited meaning. First, only 135 countries were surveyed. Second, the numbers are the net migration figures, so countries with large populations are much less likely to get higher scores. The US, for example, is listed as the country most people would want to move to, but because of its large population, the US only finishes 12th. Still, a fun and intersting quiz.

	Botswana's actually really nice, with pretty gorgeous weather and a decent economy. If you were a subject of Mugabe, would you rather not know whether you'll be alive tomorrow, or go across the border to the calm stability of Botswana? No question for me... Now Lebanon-- there's the question for me! Great food, but stability? Not so much...

	I think it would help if the quiz asked for the net migration impact, as described by your first comment. Otherwise, the description seems to ask for the highest numbers.

	So when I emigrated from the US to Argentina it was not a good move, is that right? Actually I am glad no SA countries made the list, lets just keep it a secret. Interesting quiz I am just not sure I get it.

	Why not is Democratic People's Republic of Korea on the very top of this list? The nation of North Korea is beautiful place, full of happy people enjoying many freedoms and doing things that they are free to do of their own choosing. Not to mention brave and adored Dear Leader, who provide for his people plenty of food and freedom. Every man want to go to free and fully-fed Korea, no one ever leave!

	@Booger - I can't quite see your point. Surely with it being a net total it has evened its self out. You're right in assuming a large number of people want to move to USA and is most likely the largest number out of anywhere. However on the other hand, this data also highlights that there must be a relatively large number of Americans who would like to emigrate elsewhere thus reducing the impact of the desired new immigrants.

	Yeah, the problem is that you want to weight the number of emigrants by the population of the country they're leaving, but you don't really want to weight the number of immigrants by the population of the country your going to. Which means that, while the difference between the two of them is interesting there isn't really a good way to scale it. Which, again, is why I included everything where that difference is positive--that way, whether or not something appears on the quiz is independent of your choice of scaling though its position may not be.

	I also would think the Vatican would be on here: With a population of 826, presumably few of which want to leave, only 2148 people would have to want to move there for it to beat Singapore. Even if everyone living in the country wanted to leave, we would only need about 3000 people to want to move there. How many people in the world want to be pope or a swiss guard?
