| Here goes nothing.
It is not all that crazy for Rodman to be on here. First, he led the league in RPG 7 times, finishing 10th in RPG for his career, ahead of guys like Moses Malone and Charles Barkley. Second, his career FG% is .521, so while he wasn't a great shooter, he at least knew it. Third, the Bulls years most remember him for were actually during his decline. Look at 91-92, where he averaged about a 10/18/3/1/1, while shooting well over .500.
None of this even includes his actual defense, which essential took any guy, from the 2 to the 5, out of the game. Look at his defense win shares, where he's ranked 28th all-time, ahead of Moses Malone, Barkley, and a host of other greats.
Do I think he's the greatest? No. But if the list has a place for guys who only played offense (McAdoo, Wilkins, Gervin), then why not defensive? |
