| @tmugford21: That's very true, and actually makes more sense to me. But I was just going by how the federal government does it, and if you look at lists (and the state quarters program) the federal government seems to consider admission to the union to be when a state ratified the constitution. However, if a lot of people think I should change it, I'd be more than happy to do so. Thanks for the input.
