	Hi everyone - This is meant to be a variation on the numerous quizzes on deaths in Harry Potter: it's asking specifically about characters who both died (either during the real-time series action or before that) AND came back after death in some form or other to interact directly with the living characters. Several borderline/questionable answers are available as bonuses. Comments/suggestions very welcome - thanks!

	I like this quiz. But you should add Patrick Delaney-Podmore. He was the ghost in charge of the Headless Hunt and Nick really wants to join them. Also, the grey lines that separate character names are really hard to see on here, so maybe you could make them darker? But overall, good job, I liked it.

	@ wishfulthinking: great suggestion on Sir Patrick - thanks! I've added him, as well as a couple of additional answers. Not sure how to change the grey lines that separate the character name lines - if anyone knows how, I'd be grateful for the tip.

	What about Kendra Dumbledore? Aberforth had a portrait of her, and she interacted with characters by going back and forth between the Hog's Head and the Room on Requirement. And I don't think the grey lines can be changed. Good quiz.

	@ jboran: Thanks - I thought about Peeves, but he's a poltergeist rather than a ghost. I could be wrong, but I believe JK treats poltergeists as their own class of being, rather than some after-death form.

	Great quiz! As for the borderline answers, what about Voldemort? In Book 7, the remaining piece of his soul is in the same King's Cross/between place where Harry talks to Dumbledore, and you included Harry.

	@ ncarolinian86: Thanks - glad you enjoyed it! I didn't include Voldemort because the quiz calls for characters who come back from death in some form to interact with the other characters. Voldy never comes back from that King's Cross place, so he didn't make the cut.

	You could put in Tom Riddle. He kinda came back in chamber of secrets, from the diary!

	@ bethm: Riddle did come back from the diary, but he hadn't died at that point (the young Tom Riddle from the diary was a memory). The idea is focus on characters who actually died and then came back in some form after death. I thought it was interesting how many different ways that happened in the series.

	Fun quiz idea! Could you accept "Dumbledore" for Ariana, too. I missed her because I assumed she had been included when I typed Dumbledore. And I agree with johnlk. I typed Black meaning Sirius and then those other two came up. I almost missed him because, again, I assumed that when I typed the last name he had been included.

	@ johnlk & Bowmana: Thanks for the feedback. I've adjusted it so that "Black" gives you Sirius, Phineas N & Mrs Black, and so that "Dumbledore" gives both Albus & Ariana. @ EmxCatastrophe: Correct. It's specifically looking for characters who died and then came back in some form (ghost, portrait, or otherwise) to interact with the living. Neither Moody nor Fred did that.

	@ mulan: Interesting thought. Is there any evidence that the Fat Lady or Sir Cadogan were ever actually alive, as opposed to simply being enchanted portraits? I've tried to limit the portraits to those whose subjects were clearly real people who died.

	@ cakiecakie: Thanks! There are 6 bonuses in all. Five of the bonuses (imho) don't quite fit the category but are pretty close. The other bonus actually does fit the category, but is so obscure that it didn't seem fair to include it as a regular answer.

	I really think Voldemort should be included in the quiz. He dies in "The Boy Who Lived" when the killing curse rebounds on him.

	@enomo67: My read is that Voldemort did not die the night he killed Harry's parents (presumably because of the horcruxes?). In Goblet of Fire, Voldemort says "Pain beyond pain, my friends; nothing could have prepared me for it. I was ripped from my body, I was less than spirit, less than the meanest ghost … but still, I was alive. What I was, even I do not know … I, who have gone further than anybody along the path that leads to immortality. You know my goal – to conquer death. And now, I was tested, and it appeared that one or more of my experiments worked … for I had not been killed, though the curse should have done it. Nevertheless, I was as powerless as the weakest creature alive…"

	maybe voldemort could be included as a bonus? because, like harry, he had a killing curse used against him, but like harry he returned to life as a result of something (horcruxes for voldy, i'm not quite sure what is was for harry) tying him back to the living world.

	good quiz but in the books it tells you about Harry getting married and having kids so I dont see why he would be a bonus answer. Other than that really good.

	played again...good job. although i now have just about conclusive evidence that harry did in fact die and return. since lily's love thingy was broken when harry turned seventeen, he was vulnerable. so when voldemort used the killing curse, harry died. while no one can come back from the dead, it was an exception for harry because he had all three hallows. he had the invisibility cloak for seven years, the resurrection stone in the snitch, and the elder wand from disarming draco at malfoy manor. this is whyt he could talk to dumbledore. had he gotten on the hogwarts express at kings cross, he would have officially 'died.' however, he chose to go back and fight voldemort, so he died and returned.

	aysee, that's an interesting thought, but I'm fairly certain Harry drops the resurrection stone before he enters the circle where Voldemort and his followers are waiting. And at this point, Voldemort still has the elder wand, so though it recognizes Harry as its master, he still doesn't possess it. The reason Harry doesn't die, is that Voldemort's and his lives are still intertwined. Prior to Voldemort's killing curse, Harry is still functioning as one of the seven horcruxes due to the backfired curse all those years earlier. The language used at the end of Harry's conversation with Dumbledore seems to indicate that their entire meeting happened in Harry's mind, and not in some kind of limbo between life and death. When Voldermort thought he killed Harry, he was actually only killing the part of his own soul that lived on in Harry, which I believe would explain why he was on the ground resisting aid when Harry came to his senses. Harry never truly "died."

	@aysee & Roccondil: interesting conversation! I suppose people could disagree about whether Harry actually died (my personal take is that he did not, though I can see aysee's point). But because it's ambiguous at best, I made Harry a bonus, not a real answer.

	I might be talking complete rubbish, but what about buckbeak... he died and then Harry and Hermione go back in time and save him, so technically he was dead and came back?
