	The Hurt Locker and Slumdog Millionaire were different years. Slumdog won Best Picture in '08, Hurt Locker won in '09.

	The Hurt Locker premiered in 2008, but was commercially released in 2009, therefore qualifying for the 2009 Oscar and not the 2008 one.

	More precisely, eligibility for the Oscars is based on when it the film is released in L.A. (whether it receives a commercial release elsewhere in the U.S. at the same time can and does vary; if you've ever seen a movie be Oscar-nominated before it's even come out near you, this is why.) The Hurt Locker was released in 2008, but didn't come to L.A. until the eligibility period for the '09 Oscars. Slumdog Millionaire was shown in L.A. in time for the '08 Oscars eligibility period, but didn't get a wide U.S. release until Jan. 2009. This is why it's hazardous to use the Oscars as a guide to the release year of a movie (in an extreme case, Chaplin's film Limelight won an Oscar 20 years after its initial debut because it had simply taken that long for it to be released in L.A.)

	^That's not entirely correct. When a film is shown in LA has nothing to do with anything. In order to be eligible for the Oscars in a particular calendar year, a film must have a commercial run for at least one week that year anywhere in the US. It doesn't have to be LA. This is one reason why a lot films are released on Christmas. That's the last day of the year that a film can be released and still have a 7-day run. As a practical matter, because the movie industry operates out of LA, there are plenty of films that do play for a week in LA to get oscar eligibility for that year and then close and get a full release months later, but the week-long run could just as well be in New York or Topeka. That's the current rule. It may be have been different back when Limelight came out in 1952 (or if the rule was the same, Limelight may not have had a week-long commercial run when it was shown in New York in 1952). In the case of The Hurt Locker, it was shown at a few film festivals in the fall of 2008 and was released in Italy in October 2008. But it didn't pick up a US distributor for months and so was not released in the US (or anywhere else in the world) until 2009.

	Ip Man was also released in 2008. An advanced IMDB search also turns up Yes Man, Momma's Man, Nowhere Man, $6 Man, Taxi Man, and the questionable Stupa-Man. It probably makes no difference to 99% of quiz takers, but perhaps you should steer clear of common patterns like ____ Man.
