How about potentiometer for variable resistor?

Sure, though at my level I've never heard of it. (my level being a terrible physician)

Good quiz. Adding the American symbols would be a good addition. #5 is not a potentiometer (they are 3-terminal devices) but a rheostat or variable resistor. I'd also accept "NPN transistor" for the transistor.

Should accept "battery" for cell. "Photoresistor" "photoconductor," and "CdS cell" should be accepted for light dependent resistor.

fyi I can't see your symbols in Firefox (v3.5.7) on the Mac, although other picture quizzes work fine. Symbols appear in Safari on the Mac, but for some reason the Google custom search box normally near the top of the sporcle pages shows up right in the middle of picture #9

I know, that, but I hope people can get in from that, or realise what's missing from the rest. Adds to the challenge doesn't it?

Operational Amplifier might be a good addition, as would another minute. Good quiz!

great quiz. To be correct #8 is normally open, and #9 is an indicator light. A light bulb would be a different symbol. Fun quiz. Maybe include capacitors, ground/earth, thyristors, jfets, mosfets, bridge rectifiers, and dc power.

Not nearly enough time or acceptable answers.

I'm not a native English speaker, but some of the answers do seem to be too specific. The first one is any DC voltage source to me and the second one an ampèremeter. I think lamp should be acceptable for light bulb as well.
