| That's part of the reason the Lions, Raiders, Bills, and others have struggled for much of the past decade, while the Colts, Steelers, Pats, and others have mostly stayed at the top. the teams picking in the top 5 tend to have a lot more busts than the teams picking at the bottom of the first round, since even if that low pick doesn't work out, they didn't need that player nearly as bad as the high-drafting teams.
Not that any of those 5 players have proven to be busts so far, as this year McFadden was finally starting to show some of what got him drafted so high, before getting hurt, and Stewart and Mendenhall have both had 1000-yard seasons. Yet I'm sure any of those top 4 teams would take CJ if they had it to do over again. |
