I had thought that "wrought" was the past tense of the nearly obsolete verb "wright", but looking it up, I found that you were right about "wrought" being a past tense of "work" ("wright" coming from the same source).
Even after qualifying that you are only asking for one-syllable words, you still missed "fraught" (past tense of "freight"). Also, technically, "ought" itself should qualify, as a(n auxiliary) verb in both present and past tenses, even if you discount its obsolete senses.
"No" and "naught" aren't verbs, though. |
