| I can't quite see what definition is being used. At first I thought it meant as in another country separates the region from the main part of the country, but this doesn't apply to the UK or Turkey. Then I thought, is it not including islands, but then this doesn't work for several. It seems to me that the definition is that the main country is on either a continent (e.g. Russia) or an island over which it has total control (e.g. UK) or the main country and the enclave are on the same island (Timor Leste and Brunei). If the country is mostly on a continent and part of it is on an island/s, another country must share that island (So that includes Malaysia but not Canada). It's an unusual definition! Anyway, I think Mark has also missed France, as French Guiana is an integral part of metropolitan France, unlike, say, the UK/Gibraltar, Norway/Svalbard, Denmark/Greenland, which are territories of their respective countries. So add France! |
