Trick question! Proper names aren't allowed in Scrabble!

You seem to be missing United States of America (29), and perhaps Federated States of Micronesia and People's Republic of China could be added as bonus answers.

I'm not sure how you spell out "Democratic Republic of Congo" with seven tiles either. Or since when you're allowed more than one word. Nice idea for a quiz nonetheless.

Yeah, it's more of a hypothetical situation. And the source I used said it was just "Micronesia", "United States", and "China", but I'm now realizing that those probably could be added.

Think you need to check it against the "common names" of nations used on sporcle... so USA would get in, but Micronesia and China wouldn't. Also could do with accepting common alternatives such as St Vincent, UK etc.

This must be the only quiz where the most guessed answer is Kyrgyzstan!

It drives me nuts when you can't type in CAR, DRC, or UAE and get the answers.

Cool idea for a quiz! An interesting companion quiz would be "Countries with the Highest Score in Scrabble Per Letter". That would weed out the ones that only got on this list by virtue of the length of their name (e.g., United Arab Emirates" or "Antigua and Barbuda").

You should've considered which words were possible given letter restraints. For instance, Kazakhstan has two Ks. Impossible. I know it's a hypothetical, but unlike proper nouns (because if that counted there'd be no game) this is something that really oughtta count in a game around Scrabble.

@JayHankEdLyonJr: There are 2 blanks in scrabble, so there has to be at least 3 "impossible" tiles for it to not work. I still think its funny that DRC is more guessed than USA. This must be the only quiz where that's the case :P

Another fun bonus could be Denmark (incl Greenland), as that's the way it's written on most areabased quizzes.

newenglander- Venezuela is in there. BeatNavy- Yes, it is "the gambia", but that came up short with 17 points. And also, the reason countries such as "Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" and "Republic of Ireland" aren't on here is because a map will just say "Ireland". However, "Democratic Republic of the Congo" will be on the map.

I think this game should coincide more with the rules of Scrabble. You only get seven letters on you rack, and very few of the countries can be built on other words!

Very nice quiz! As a little heads up, most quizzes on sporcle accept 'Vatican' for Vatican City.

This is a really cool quiz. It does seem like your alternate answers are a little scattershot--e.g., accepting "bosnia" for Bosnia and Herzegovina is actually less strict than I'm used to, while not accepting "vatican" for Vatican City or "united states" for the United States of America is more so. I can see some value in being more strict than sporcle standard for a quiz that's as closely tied to naming as this, but I think it'd work better if it were more consistent.

I absolutely love this quiz, but I don't know why "Federated States of Micronesia" isn't included; after all, "Micronesia"- the region- consists of a few other nations besides FSM. Still, 5/5- brilliant quiz.
