Where are Paperback Writer and Lady Madonna?
Oct 18th, 2012 at 21:00 GMT
Hi, Paperback Writer, Lady Madonna, Hey Jude etc weren't on any of these studio albums and were just released as singles (see note). Bungalow Bill is definitely in there and seems to be working & showing up in the stats etc. 'Hello' had an issue and is fixed, thanks.

Personally, I think you should include their singles tracks. "Devil in Her Heart" is out of order and should be between "Dear Prudence" and "Dig a Pony". You're missing "Her Majesty". "Money" should be "Money (That's What I Want)". And your order is inconsistent, because in some places, you include spaces in your alphabetization (The "I" songs), and in other places, you disregard spaces.

^ Regardless of on what basis this quiz is organized, it "could have" been made with some other combination of Beatles material. Including the singles is a reasonable idea. But then people will say "why didn't you include other albums?" Then, if the quiz was redone to include both of the above, there would be a call for Anthology materials, then other unreleased material.
By setting parameters for the quiz, the focus remains on fairly well-known primary recordings. Beatles experts should be patting themselves on the back for NOT entering the singles, because it is a reflection of their expertise. And it's a good "Huh... Well whaddya know?" or "Oh yeah..." moment otherwise, I think.

Hi. There were several options concerning the content used in the quiz but this one seemed to me to be the most straightforward. I considered a lot of different factors and felt that this one would work best for a few reasons - clarity of content, time limit, scrolling factor etc but most importantly in the challenge and enjoyability factor. There could easily be a valid variation(s) of this, in terms of what you could decide to include/exclude. I just hope people enjoy this one! Thanks napb & Davidos.

Magical Mystery Tour shouldn't be included, or the instructions should be changed. Not a UK album.

Sea of time only shows up for "times" not "time"
Oct 26th, 2012 at 21:40 GMT
I saw the edit to the note and have edited it again to make it more accurate. Personally, though, I agree with dudemanbearpig regarding regarding including single-only tracks (and the one song that was released on a US album but not on any UK album or single: "Bad Boy").
Oct 27th, 2012 at 14:00 GMT
Hi. I wouldn't really mind adding them in but would I include all songs on any single released anywhere or just the UK &/or the US singles - (incl most recent?).
Oct 31st, 2012 at 04:10 GMT
You could just include all the tracks on Past Masters. That, along with Magical Mystery Tour, is not a studio album, but is considered "canon" by Apple.

I think it would be prudent to include ALL released songs (pre-Anthology), with the exception of Komm gib mir deine Hand and Sie liebt dich (those words could be bonuses?). I don't believe that there were any Beatles songs that were officially released in countries outside the UK and US and not in the UK or US.
Nov 1st, 2012 at 19:53 GMT
(note that even deine Hand/Sie liebt dich was released in the US!)
Nov 1st, 2012 at 21:57 GMT
^ Yes, I know, that was one of my main concerns :) Just to be clear, by all songs, do you mean just to add all the US & UK singles up to 1995?
Nov 2nd, 2012 at 19:25 GMT
I'd say yes... so everything that came out on the CD remasters, really.
Nov 8th, 2012 at 11:42 GMT
It's nice that the singles and such are included now. But it looks like only half of the Long Tall Sally EP is there - "Slow Down" and "Matchbox" are included, but not "Long Tall Sally" or "I Call Your Name".

A number of Yellow Submarine tracks ("March of the Meanies", "Sea of..." etc) are NOT the Beatles - they are George Martin compositions for the movie and should not be here.

Beatles songs by any word. Most brains try "I", "the", "she", "me". Not me - "walrus"

Something is awry here. I mistakenly typed "nna" when I meant to type "Anna" and about 15 boxes filled up with song titles. Evidently all songs with the letters n or a got triggered?
Nov 28th, 2012 at 18:03 GMT
@dilettante2012: you received credit for all those with an 'a' and 'nna' remained behind
Nov 28th, 2012 at 18:13 GMT
After I got the handful I knew, it was more a question of thinking of common words, both ones that were generally common and common in song titles. Frustating that I didn't think of "good."
Nov 28th, 2012 at 18:28 GMT
Very pleased to have gotten 187. Very irritated that Paperback Writer (maybe my favorite) never even crossed my mind. Sigh...
Nov 28th, 2012 at 18:33 GMT
you know you're tired when you have blanks between I'm songs and can't think of what goes there.
Nov 28th, 2012 at 18:56 GMT
On which Beatles album is there a song titled "Why"?
Nov 28th, 2012 at 19:05 GMT
Good quiz. Just typing common words gets a whole bunch I'd never heard of, and then of course miss a whole bunch of famous ones most people know.
Nov 28th, 2012 at 19:23 GMT
I don't get it. I typed in "Paul is dead." and all the answers filled in.

Awesome quiz! Can't believe I missed some of the ones I did. However, "Good Day Sunshine" didn't come up when I entered "day".

I think I would have aced this quiz if I had sucked it up and bought that damn "Yellow Submarine" album...

Vote this comment up if you think the quiz should not include Side 2 of Yellow Submarine (all those symphonic "Pepperland" and "Sea" songs written by George Martin with essentially no Beatle involvement).
