	Ha, I remember when this was first on. Mostly a good list, though I wonder if the likes of Purple Pills or What It Feels Like for a Girl would still be there if they made that list today...not really songs/videos that stood the test of time.

	how are more people not getting the britney spears one (as embarassed as i am to say it), the lyrics "hit me baby one more time" by her when she was like 17 years old is pretty obvious in my opinion

	"Portraying Real Events" has to be my favorite reason on that list. Though "Religious Imagery" and "Creepy" are interesting, too. Curious, isn't it, that "homophobia" and "guy on guy" are taboo.

	Some of these videos ARE pretty crazy (pregnant girlfriend in the trunk, kid with a gun in his mouth, guy ripping off his skin and muscle and throwing it at roller skaters), but I wonder what it is that I've watched that makes me "dull" toward them. I mean, I remember when they came out, and I wasn't like "What the **** is going on?!" I probably should've been, but I wasn't...

	As I recall, the Neil Young video made fun of Michael Jackson's hair catching fire, and that was more of the reason for its controversy than insulting MTV's sponsors.

	About five years ago our TV would randomly pick up MTV every night at midnight. This only lasted the summer, but having network television my whole life this was a very peculiar incident indeed. This special came on once and I remember being so shocked at the things I saw! You're not used to that when you don't have cable.

	i also thought "die another day" by madonna would work- it has torture, religious imagery, violence, crime, etc. too- check it out online if youve never seen it

	Creepy and violence seems to describe Thriller rather than Black or White. Excessive crotch abuse might be a better description for the listed video.

	i love some of the descriptions as to why they are controversial- creepy is such a none reason! and as someone else pointed out, how can you have homophobia and then exhibit it yourself by warning for guy on guy. good quiz btw

	I think Duran Duran's video for "Girls on Film" should have made the cut. The "night version" of that video is like watching a porn.

	I still think MTV wimped out by not listing Billie Jean on this list. Of course it wasn't the video that was the problem... it was the fact that they thought a black singer couldn't possibly appeal to their white audience. But if you want to talk about "controversial videos on MTV", well, the one where corporate policy caused the controversy really ought to be on the list.

	the original "black or White" video had an extended sequence after the main song without music where he screamed repeatedly, crabbed his crotch obsessively and grinded into his hand and smashed car windows with a tire iron. the vid was shown in prime time with lots of hype and it starts off with macauley culkin who was real popular with kids at the time after Home Alone. Everybody was like "what the hell was that?" It was a big controversy and they cut the extended version soon after.
