To be accurate, the crown dependencies of Guernsey and Jersey should be given as the Bailiwick of Guernsey and the Bailiwick of Jersey, otherwise you'd be leaving out the other islands such as Alderney, Sark, Herm, etc.

Mayotte is claimed by Comoros.

hellofromUK - thanks, will correct. Auguste - wasn't aware of that. On looking into it, it seems that the dispute is pretty clearly resolved in favor of France - it administers the island, it's recognized as French generally, and its inhabitants voted against independence. But I'll make a note of it.

You're right mangojuice. Mayotte was one of the four islands of the Comoros until it gained its independence in 1975. But people of Mayotte voted twice to remain a French territory. Mayotte will also become a department in 2011, like French Guiana or Martinique, as to strenghten its link with France. Eventhough Mayotte is not listed by the UN as a non-self governing territory that needs to be decolonized, the Comoros keep on claiming it as a full part of their sovereingty. The CIA world factbook also lists Mayotte as a diputed territory : https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/mf.html But it will be long before Mayotte gets Comorian...

All the dependencies of Spain are missing like Ceuta and Melilla.

sacmersault: They're not in the CIA World Handbook, which was my criterion. madalex: From my research, the Gibraltar situation is different. Spain doesn't claim Gibraltar, it wants to continue classifying it as a colony, which is a step lighter. Auguste - hadn't noticed that, but you're right, it says on the map.
