RSA would have been a good one to include since it looks like it could be Russia but is really Republic of South Africa (thank you, Oscar Pistorius).

Some IOC country codes are based on countries' French names. Hence MAR=Maroc=Morocco, SUI=Suisse=Switzerland, ROU=Roumanie=Romania, etc.

Enjoyed the quiz. Aus (Australia) and Aut (Austria) would be other good ones. BIH, IBV, CGO, CRC and COK would significantly increase the degree of difficulty. Hey, somebody make a quiz on Olympic teams that aren't on the countries of the world quiz.

Can't believe it was KSA of all of them I didn't get. I was watching them participating and made a mental note of the code.

PRK also would have been a good one to add, for People's Republic of Korea (North Korea).

This is a pretty great quiz. But it would be absolutely epic if it was every country and you had to do it in order.

@marpocky: there is a contributed game (clickable) with the codes for all the countries; you can look for it in the User Created page, under Sports. (Comments to advertise other games are usually voted down. I suppose this won't be the case, because it isn't self-advertising; the game was created by other user).

@Pedroia15: Technically North Korea is Democratic People's Republic of Korea (ironic, I know), even though the code is PRK. In previous years I believe their code has been DPRK. South Korea, on the other hand, is Republic of Korea (ROK).

To Lovenkrands (about eight posts up at 02:27 Aug 7): I'm pretty sure I've seen (and taken) a quiz on Olympic participants that aren't sovereign nations by Sporcle's definition in Countries of the World (including, for example, Kosovo, North Cyprus and South Sudan but not Hong Kong, Abkhazia or Western Sahara).

I got KSA because I remembered seeing it last week. Missed Chile and Moroccco. I agree RSA would be better for the "R". As they once said on Jeopardy. If they had a category "Begins with RWA", what else could it be?
