Those hardly look like snakes in Madudsa's hair...but overall I liked this quiz.

I only missed one and it was the valkyrie. Possibly find a different picture or myth because i am a mythology major and i couldnt figure that one out, but overall good quiz :)

@Chaos2209 - I wasn't sure about Valkyrie but I put it in there anyway to see how it went. Any suggestions for an alternate myth would be appreciated. As none of these things exist, it's not always that easy to find appropriate images of them but I'll do my best.

Very well done. My one complaint is that you should accept Wolfman for Werewolf

Fun quiz! I got almost all of them, but I missed "troll" because I typed "trolls" too fast for Sporcle to catch the singular...maybe you could accept the plural form too since the picture has several of them.

Thanks, I've added 'wolfman' (even though I think it's a bit strange) and 'trolls'.

Oh and I've changed 'hippogriff' to the answer that appears now. I'm not an expert on the offspring of griffins, but fortunately Strattosphere is, so thanks for that :)

Can you add "gargoyle"? I kept thinking the imp was one because it is carved in stone.

This was great, a perfect fresh idea for a picture quiz. I'd expect this one to be published very soon.

I read a lot of fantasy fiction to me that IS a gryphon and NOT a hippogriff. A hippogriff has the front of an eagle and the back of a horse. That does not look like the back of a horse so it is a plain gryphon. Hippo- being latin (or whatever) for horse defines it.

@hogfather - Like I said before, I'm not an expert on this stuff but 'gryphon' is accepted as an answer as it's an alternate name for a griffin (according to Wiki). I did a quick bit of Googling and I think Strattosphere is correct about the picture being a hippogriff, so I'm leaving the answer as that. They're not real anyway so there's no need to get upset.

I'd say it's a griffin since they have the body of a lion, and to me, those legs look lion-like, there's claws and I suspect that's a lion tail at the right. But you accept both, so no worries. You could use unicorn or dragon instead of valkyrie, though you already have Pegasus and the Hydra. Or just pick any of the many gods, like Poseidon. You can include his trident in the picture. Great quiz though.

@jimmyrickards - Thanks for the suggestions. I was hoping to do a sort of sequel if people liked this one, maybe more along the lines of ancient/classical gods. So Poseidon would a good choice for that. I'll try to find a better Valkyrie picture for this one, but am open to other myth/legend suggestions to replace it...?

Accept gorgon for Medusa. Medusa is the name of one particular gorgon.

the trolls i thought might have been goblins, and i got my valkyries and amazons mixed up, but i reallly enjoyed this quiz. i was thinking of doing a picture quiz using letter from movie pposters (i.e. guess the movie from the font used on the poster), but i haven't got the know-how to make a picture quiz.

I thought this was a great quiz! I have to say, it's great when people give suggestions, but at some point enough is enough--you're taking a quiz to be challenged! The challenge is being able to deliver the answer the quizmaker is asking for, not naming off a list of answers you believe most applicable...

Great quiz. I had the same problem with mermaids (with the s) and would suggest adding the plural form of each as an alternate.

Brilliant quiz! I was annoyed at not getting leprechaun, I kept thinking it was a witch. And it took me a while to get trolls, I tried all sorts like goblin and gnome but got it in the end :) If you're looking for more how about dragons and unicorns?
