Cool idea, but I would say it ruins the point if you're going to give us the name of the book. Otherwise, it would be a really fun quiz.

Do you think it would be too difficult if I just had pictures and no other hints? What if people don't know what the movies are?

Right I get that, but it just seems redundant to have the pictures if you're going to have the name of the book. Then it's simply just a name the author based on the book quiz. Maybe you make it just name the book-to-movie adaption based on the picture? I dunno, this is just my opinion, I could be really off base. Don't change anything until you get more feedback.

If you're going to give the name of anything, it should be the name of the movie. The way it is right now it might as well not be a movie quiz at all. I think it'd be fine with no hint other than the picture (I'd suck at it, but I suck at movie quizzes in general so that's no argument against anything).

I agree with Saulmeister. It should be one or the other.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've moved the book titles over to the movie column so they don't appear until you've got an answer correct.

5/5. Well, 4/5 out of five because you lost half a point for making me trying to spell "Palahniuk", but I'm rounding it up. Not having seen it with the titles, I'd say it's a really good level of difficulty; I recognized most of the movies (and the ones I didn't, having the title wouldn't have helped--well, American Psycho, I guess, but not otherwise).

Excellent quiz. It combines my three loves; Books, Movies, and being a nerd.

I learned three important things from this quiz: I watch too many movies, I read too few books, and I will never learn how to properly spell Palahniuk.

Once again, a beautiful picture quiz by lupin. I wish there could be a way to display the name of the movie/book too, just to be thorough.

Well, I know movies, but I don't know books, so this was a little bit of a mixed game for me!

It'd be nice if the title of the book/movie would come up with the author, I think. But great quiz!

Movies / Books:
Row 1: Jaws / A Clockwork Orange / 1984 / American Psycho / A Scanner Darkly
Row 2: Apocalypse Now (based on Heart Of Darkness) / Breakfast At Tiffany's / catch-22 / Fight Club / The Exorcist
Row 3: Matilda / The Da Vinci Code / The Godfather / The Great Escape / The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy
Row 4: Lord of the Rings trilogy / L.A. Confidential / The Lovely Bones / Jurassic Park / Interview With The Vampire
Row 5: The Hunt For Red October / The Silence of the Lambs / Alice In Wonderland (based on characters from Alice Through the Looking Glass and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland) / The Shawshank Redemption (based on Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, from the collection Different Seasons) / Lolita
Hope that helps.

Thanks rockgolf, I couldn't figure out a few of the titles. Kept looking at American Psycho knowing that I knew it, but not being able to place it. Didn't know the authors name any way, as it turned out. Thanks for the help.

I love this idea for a quiz! Requires a little extra thinking... identify the movie, then think of the book, then the author.

Obviously ^^ there have been a lot of modifications made to this, but as of early 1/16 this quiz is PERFECT. I had read 10 of the books, could ID 23 of the movies, and got 17 correct answers. Brilliant effing quiz.

I'd almost argue that it should accept Ibsen for Jaws, since Benchley's novel is pretty unabashedly based on his An Enemy of the People, but then I'd just be pretentious. Great quiz.

I'm surprised this quiz included a movie that hasn't been released yet (Alice in Wonderland). Isn't that against Sporcle policy?

I second 'Apocalypse Now' being something of a stretch for this quiz. Especially because the image provided, American soldiers, is an element of the story that cannot be credited to Conrad. Good quiz otherwise.
