Balboni was never a left fielder. He played first base and DH.

Not sure I understand. Is this their opening day 3 and 4 hitters? Or the player who batted in those spots the most during those years? Either way 1974 is way off.

Not sure where George Hendrick came from in '74, as he never played for the Yankees. Lots of errors.....

This quiz needs to explain that it's looking for opening day lineups (and fix the errors that have been pointed out). Regardless, it's scary that the Yankees' opening day lineup in 1989 had Brookens batting 3rd and Balboni batting 4th. I guess Mattingly was hurt for the first few games of the year, but not surprising that team only won 74 games.

In 1974 the Yankees played the Indians on opening day. Hendrick and Ellis were the 3-4 hitters for the Indians. Munson and Murcer were 3-4 for the Yankees. The author simply picked the 3-4 hitters from the wrong side of the box score.
