	Whatever Puerto Rico and Netherlands Antilles' general political status, they are recognized as countries for international sporting events. I'm shocked the Dominican Republic wasn't in, I have to say.

	@trivial the term Netherlands Antilles refers to the islands part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands,so yes your right but they competed as an individual 'nation'. And this is the world of sport not politics and things are done differently, and Puerto Rico is kind of the same, it isn't a state of the US and so it competes separately too. ok

	Maybe asking us to name the "teams" rather than "nations" would have been better, though.

	I too am shocked that the Dominican Republic didn't participate, but I guess every team has an off year I would think about changing 'nations' to 'teams' to make it a little clearer since that's what they are classified as on the World Cup's website, although you are correct about the meaning of 'nations' being different in sport than politics ( http://2009baseballworldcup.com )
