I think this quiz is a terrific idea. On the other hand, I'm not quite sure it's coming together properly. The problem is that many well-known books go through many, many editions, so that while Amelia Bedelia and Angela's Ashes have distinctive and recognizable covers, many of the others can't really be gotten from their (kind of generic) covers unless you happened to read that edition. Which means that the Faulkner, the Orwell, the Blume, the Warren, the Tolstoy, and the Chopin--if not others as well--are less about naming the book based on the cover and more about naming the book based on the author.
I think if the quiz had more things like Alice in Wonderland and Angela's Ashes where you could get it from the cover picture even if the author's name were removed, it would be instant front-page material. |
