Great quiz. I'm not used to seeing King listed as just "King" - I admit I even looked it up thinking I'd correct you.

King was much more widely known as Mackenzie King than William King. You should also accept real first names, such as "Charles" on Joe Clark. Also, on the style page, set the first 2 columns to 20% and use the last 60% to spell out the name in its entirety. "Charles Joseph Clark", "Martin Brian Mulroney". The current version is ambiguous.

Thank you for the suggestions. I've tinkered. Hopefully it works better now!

I've done a bit of research, and as far as I can tell, King didn't use Mackenzie as a first name; it was used more as a double-barreled last name. I can list him as Prime Minister Mackenzie King for you, but he was named after William Lyon Mackenzie. His first name WAS William. I really think that's what we have to test for. Dissenters and supporters, please weigh in on the debate!

This was fun. Depending on exactly what you intend by "commonly used" first names, you might want to consider accepting "Mike" for Pearson (see, e.g., http://www.cbc.ca/greatest/top_ten/nominee/pearson-lester-know.html). (Maybe as a bonus answer, since he's known to history as Lester, though he was Mike to his friends.)

@Q_Pheevr: In my brain, I think it was the name they went by formally (and I stand by the assertion that "Mackenzie" was used more in conjunction with "King" as a surname, possibly to differentiate from "the king" at that time), but I like the idea of Mike. Added, and thanks!

Bennett was popularly known by his initials, i.e. R.B. Bennett; sorta like H.G. Wells was known by his. Don't know if you could set the quiz to accept initials or not.

We like our John's here in Canada. And damn I knew it was Wilfrid Laurier but I kept trying to spell it Wilfred.

5 Johns, a Jean, and no other first name represented more than once. Proud to be a John!
