1. No, Indiana isn't one of them. 2. For states with confusing origins, I chose the most commonly accepted theory.

Nice quiz! For the next one, you should ask people which language those states' names are derived from...

Nice quiz. You should add New Mexico as well, as it is derived from Mexico which is from the indigenous Nahuatl language. New Mexico and much of the SW US, of course, was part of Mexico once upon a time. It's included in the article you cite as indigenous.

Arizona came from the Pima word meaning "enchanted spring." It needs to be added.

@TheBigE1980: The origins of Idaho and Arizona are uncertain, But I chose to accept Idaho because the person who claimed to invented it is never mentioned in the earliest appearances of the word. As for Arizona, I find the Basque language origin more convincing, but you're welcome to make your case on why it should be included.

I vote to include Arizona - because I think it's a lot more likely that Uto-Aztecs named the place than Basques.

I'm surprised to see North Dakota the most guessed, and Massachusetts one of the least guessed. I've always thought of Massachusetts as an embodiment of long, very Native American names.
