	Not exactly XiscoKid9. First: Cyprus is geographically looking in Asia, but it is often considered European because of historical and cultural reasons. Also, it's not that close to Greece, it's just south of Turkey, which is very much in Asia (look at a map). Also, Ireland is in it's full name just Ireland. Not republic of. But as Mad_Hatter said, almost every country in Europe has "of" in its long name, so many should be omitted by this logic, however, not Ireland, which is just Ireland.

	@zeppelinoid Oh lord, not this again... Look. The boundary between Europe and Asia is arbitrary. Sporcle has decided to use a boundary that places Cyprus and (part of) Turkey in Europe and Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in Asia. You are free to disagree with this, but stop pretending that your arbitrary dividing line between Europe and Asia is objectively superior.

	@SeaCalMaster: There is nothing arbitrary about the geograpical boundary between Europe and Asia. Cyprus is many hundreds of miles from Europe and very close to Asia. It is not next to Greece it is next to Turkey, Syria and Lebanon. It is separated from mainland Europe by Anatolyan Turkey (AKA Asia minor). The eastern geographical boundary consists of the Ural mountains, the Ural river, the Caspian Sea and the watershed of the Greater Caucasus mountains. This is recognised by most geographers and their organisations and the European Council which is the principal pan-European organisation. It includes Cyprus and Armenia as members on historical and cultural rather than geographical grounds. From a geographical perspective it is entirely illogical and insulting to include Cyprus (0% in Europe) and exclude Azerbaijan, Georgia or Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan has far more territory in Europe than Turkey both in area and as a proportion. Indeed it has more territory in Europe than about half of the countries that are entirely in Europe. People keep going on about this because quizzes keep beeng made that are factually inacurate which is quite an indictment for a general knowledge quiz.
