| Can i use the british way of talking and put 'r' at the end of all words that end in an 'a' like "Austriarrr", "Australiarrr"? |

| I got so stuck on how many countries would end in r if it was spoken by someone from Boston or New York that I wasn't paying attention to the real countries that ended in r. Anyone else have that problem? |
 | RJMurphy: | Jul 3rd, 2010 at 10:21 GMT | | 3 points |
| I guess the least guessed one first and I get the most guessed one last, typical sporcle |

| I was surprised that East Timor was only a bonus. If you are using local language names then perhaps Madagascar should also have been excluded as it is spelt Madagasikara in Malagasy. Burma is the name of the country in South East Asia until the Burmese people say otherwise, rather than the present nasty unelected regime. |

Correct me if I am wrong, but is United Arab Emirates not considered a Country? |
 | gotplaid: | Jul 4th, 2010 at 16:59 GMT | | 39 points |
| UAE is indeed a country. Moreover, it is a country that does not end in R. |

| @zscone: I thought of Gibraltar too |
 | KoilMcFalcon: | Jul 7th, 2010 at 22:44 GMT | | 7 points |
| @ jbraub1988 I think its offficial name is Timor-Leste. so thats why its not on |
 | zeppelinoid: | Jul 16th, 2010 at 12:41 GMT | | 7 points |
| @KoilMcFalcon: Timor-Leste is the country's official name in Portuguese (actually República Democrática de Timor-Leste). The official name in the local language of Tetum is Repúblika Demokrátika Timór Lorosa'e. If we used official names in other languages that would make Germany Deutschland, Spain Espana, Japan Nippon etc. Sporcle quizzes always use the common English name of countries and East Timor ends in an 'R'. It is a bit harsh that everyone's correct comments above have been systematically voted down. |

| Does anyone else give up and start typing Boliviar, Botswanar, Singapor just so it feels like your guessing even though you know they are deinitely not right? Brain scramble! |
 | adivineeternity: | Sep 27th, 2010 at 05:20 GMT | | 4 points |
| Right then. As always, my brain decided Ecuador is not a country. Only one I missed. Why is my brain so biased against Ecuador? |

| I must play too many Sporcle country quizzes. I tried CAR. |
 | NY_MOB: | Dec 22nd, 2010 at 02:49 GMT | | 6 points |
| I agree with zeppelinoid. Why do we use the English names for every country except East Timor? Oh - and Ivory Coast? Are there others? |

| zeppelinoid: sporcle quizzes always uses the names of the countries by UN standards. Timor-Leste is the name used in the UN, not the English version, East Timor. |
