Dec 29th, 2009 at 05:05 GMT
yea, i know. I also hate the failnas brothers, but they are a boy band. And hanson really only had one song, ill try to make that a bonus though :D
Dec 29th, 2009 at 05:54 GMT

Dec 29th, 2009 at 08:32 GMT

the beatles? they were boys. and a band. the rolling stones? the who? pink floyd? and so on. "boy bands" should not mean just the lame ones that danced around and half sang, half put on a sexy, smoldering, look and called it music.

Beatles= definitely a boy band. Created for an image, added Ringo when they already had a better, albeit, less marketable drummer.
Dec 30th, 2009 at 01:56 GMT
Weird list, you've got your stereotypical 90's boy bands like Nsync and Backstreet Boys, and then a group like Boyz II Men who were actually GOOD.
Dec 30th, 2009 at 03:02 GMT
hanson should deff be more than just a bonus. they were the first "jonas brothers"
Dec 30th, 2009 at 04:02 GMT
@lucyinthesky9,Melted Man. All bands are not boy bands because boy bands do not usually play any type of instrument, they are expected to perform vocals and dance. @Chris. I have 90's boy bands because they are boy bands, whether they were bad or good does not matter. @mckeon. Soul singers can also be boy bands.
Dec 30th, 2009 at 04:09 GMT
Thanks for the 98 degrees bonus!
Dec 30th, 2009 at 05:56 GMT
yeah MeltedMan,the beatles were a boys band for just about 2 minutes and then they became the greatest rock composers in history, they certainly deserved to be listed with the new kids on the block and the backstreet boys

@lemurhater, "All bands are not boy bands because boy bands do not usually play any type of instrument, they are expected to perform vocals and dance." I wonder if that's exactly how their manager's explained it to them. "No, no, no, don't worry about learning to play instruments, or writing songs. All we expect you to do is sing, and dance. No, we don't want your opinions. Just sing, and dance with these chairs."

@johnnyd: The Beatles changed musical history. They are one of the most popular bands ever. They were ahead of their time. Greatest rock composers, no. And I consider "boy bands" to be more about image than music. The Beatles were created for an image, not because of musical genius. That doesn't mean they weren't musical geniuses.
Dec 30th, 2009 at 14:31 GMT
you should accept "jonas bros"

Some people obviously do not get what the difference between boy bands and bands with boys in them. Boy bands do not usually play instruments, as i have already said. They have a track prepared for them and they sing and perform along with it. Boy bands are the male equivalent to girl groups. The Beatles did lay out some blueprints for later boy bands, but they were not one themselves. @leeeroy, thank you for your helpful comment.

so weird the Beegees, Beatles, Temptations, Beach Boys aren't in here
Dec 30th, 2009 at 18:38 GMT
well Melted let me remind you that the beatles were a band way before epstein cleaned up their "MOD" image. they had been on extensive trips to germany and their shows in liverpool were so sold out so much kids went to the epstein store to buy records that did not exist(except if you count the tony sheridan thing)so epstein went to see them and the hysteria surrounding them in Liverpool. The fact is it took a few albums before they were allowed to put all original material in their albums but if you look at the track listing the better songs are original material.mccartney composed when im 64 at 16...

Dec 30th, 2009 at 21:06 GMT
NWA should be on this list.
Dec 30th, 2009 at 22:21 GMT
Boyz II Men were the best boyband of the 90s IMO - they can outsing the whole top 4. And New Edition (the original New Kids on the Block) is criminally underrated; how can the group that brought classics like "Can You Stand the Rain" be ranked below the Jonas Brothers? And finally, this list is missing the Jackson 5 (and the Beatles too I agree). Sure they played their own instruments, but if the Jonas Bros can be on here so should they. Whew, glad I got all that out of my system. :) Please don't take offense to what I said, I'm just venting lol.
