| @NoVan: British English tends to use plural verbs for groups, teams and organizations, except for the verb `to be' where the thing the group is/are is singular. So `Led Zeppelin is a band' but `Led Zeppelin are great/OK/losers'. There's no particular logic to it and it's not at all consistent — `Led Zeppelin are a band' is also fairly common, as is `Led Zeppelin is great/OK/awful' (in the latter case, especially when you're talking about their music, rather than the band members). |
