	How is the Roman Empire not included? Even if you say there were two, both should make it, especially the Byzantine (Eastern) Empire. They lasted at least from 390-1453, or 1204 if you stop at the sacking during the 4th Crusade.

	I generally think of the Spanish Empire ending with the Spanish-American War. Why 1975? Why 1999 for Portugal? I'm happy to be edumicated ;)

	Don't you need (properly labelled) the Roman Empire (453 BC to 476 AD), the Eastern Roman Empire (which is the Byzantine Empire, NOT the Holy Roman Empire) and the Holy Roman Empire (not the Eastern Empire)? As asked above, British Empire? Persian Empire? Babylon (I don't know how long)? Mayas/Aztecs? Incas? You also need to accept more alternative names.

	Portugal ended in 1999 when they handed over Macau, British empire was only 414 years, Spain ended when they handed over western sahara, incan only lasted about 95 years. keep in mind that an empire is when you control people who are culturally/ethnically different than you, so mayanas never even had an empire.

	I think this needs a bit of tidying up. Determining when an Empire starts and ends is very difficult, but there are some glaring omissions. The Venetian Empire notoriously lasted 1,100 years from 697-1797. The British/English Empire started with invasions of France/Wales/Scotland/Ireland in the 12th/13th centuries, and still clings on today in all seven continents. Other omissions include Western and Eastern Roman, Holy Roman, Spanish, Khymer, Chalukya and Hittite.
