	This IQ test is not supposed to be perfectly accurate but a good indicator. It was created using the same methodology that all internationally accepted IQ tests were used. The problem is that true/false, yes/no or complicated pictoral clues are inappropriate for sporcle. If you get all of these answers correct, without cheating, you are likely to be in the IQ range of 150+ 35/40 ~ 145 30/40 ~ 135 25/40 ~ 122 20/45 ~ 115 15/45 ~ 105 10/45 ~ 95 5/45 ~ 90 0/45 is equivalent to below 85. Remember that the average score is going to be higher on sporcle for a number of reasons, including the type of mind that the average user has and the fact that the quiz can be retaken after seeing the answers. For a more reliable equivalent, a look at the percentages would usually suffice but remember that it will be skewed upwards. There is one 'control' question listed which you may have identified as ridiculous. This is because it should accept any answer: that way I will have good indication as to the percentage that failed to complete the test. Also, the time is going to be slightly short for some of you, I'm afraid. Only those with an IQ of 130 or above should be able to complete the quiz in time without struggling. Again, standard practise. Congratulations to anyone who got 32 or more correct - you are probably eligible for MENSA membership. Anyone with 25 may be eligible due to error. Anyone lower than that is unlike to. For a more reliable test, try Einstein's Riddle. And for those that are about to mark me down solely because you did badly, please don't - remember that IQ is a measure of one type of intelligence and not a measure of knowledge, common sense, cleverness, logical prowess, English, mathematics or the ability to spell Kyrgyzstan!

	Oh and practising does affect your IQ, especially as some of these are questions you may have come across before. So if you're desperate to join a high-IQ society, buy some puzzle books, do cryptic crosswords, riddles on the internet, anagram games and the like and try again in a few days/weeks!

	Now accepts Mt Everest though it accepted both Everest and Mount Everest. Yes, the time would affect the IQ result and typing shouldn't dramatically affect the result but let me know if it really is that much of a hindrance!

	Copied and pasted without vetting, I'm afraid - now corrected and thanks for pointing it out! Also simple mistakes like that are signs of learning disabilities and are not indications of low intelligence. Further proof that intelligence is not always important ;)

	I don't understand why this is getting a low rating, even as a quiz by itself without the added bonus of getting a general idea of IQ, it's better than half of the user-created quizzes. good job.

	Thanks Sporctastic :) What I find interesting is the bell-curve. There's the first bell-curve, which shows at what point people get bored (most people around 3-4 questions answered, by the look of things) and what scores people are actually getting: average about 31-32? That would indicate an average IQ of around 130-135 (minus those retaking, etc) which is probably pretty accurate for those bothering to do obscure user-made IQ tests on a general knowledge site and actually finish it! Still, slightly higher than I expected so well done guys :)

	I don't understand what many of these questions have to do with IQ. I think that's why it's getting some low ratings. It's easy to type a word backwards. However, the sequence questions are what IQ tests are known for.

	This is actually nowhere near what a true IQ test is like. Too much of it is cultural, and quite honestly that is not a true indicator of IQ.

	Typing words backwards, or in a random order, are a sign of spacial awareness that is linked to IQ. The test IS similar to the tests I have taken that MENSA created as there are generally the five sections that I included. IQ isn't solely logic - or sequences, though I have never heard of that being famous - but also includes linguistic and mathematical skills. And what's cultural about this quiz? The river question? Name a synonym? Or the three general knowledge questions at the end? [Note: general knowledge is suggested by some to be a good indicator of IQ but isn't generally accepted so I weighted it much lower]. I'm not certain what the criticism of the test is! Feel free to post a link to a proper IQ test and cite differences because I would honestly be happy to find ways to improve it :)

	34/40..one off the next grouping :( A few issues though, the date of the French Revolution, the author of Great Expectations and the name of Pluto's moon (even though I got this one) have nothing to do with IQ as far as I'm concerned. I kind of see how general knowledge could be linked to an IQ test, but only if it's general enough that it's known to at least 50% of the population. Only 37% of Sporcle users (who are quite a bit above average....on average lol) knew who wrote Great Expectations. That qualifies as obscure in my books. Some of these are great questions though. What row of numbers comes next in this series? 1, 11, 21, 1211, 111221, 312211 Had me completely stumped.

	It is accurate as far as my score. When I was in grad school we took an IQ test in one of my classes. My IQ on this quiz was 122 and the one I did in class (nearly 40 years ago) was 123.

	Thanks @mathteacher - and I agree with you, @MacCivEngMgmt - I never would expect general knowledge to play a part. But it does feature on many IQ tests and is supposed to have a range of difficulty. I can't imagine that the result will be more than 20 off the actual IQ... Good idea, @koopa08. I'm not sure how I could do it simply though as some will require massive details. I could outline them later, perhaps? Here a couple of answers: * ottffssen - first letter of each spelled letter (one, two etc.) * 1,11,21,1211,111221 etc. is probably the most difficult one on the quiz. It's "reading" the numbers. One. One one. Two ones. One two, two ones. One one, one two, two ones. Etc. I didn't get it until it was explained either. And thanks all for playing :)

	@SuperSebastian - The quiz that you created called "IQ test" is similar in name, but yours is not an IQ test. You just used the label to attract people to play your general knowledge quiz. It's not a bad quiz but it does not test IQ ("which is the biggest state?"). I'm happy to point out it's your quiz so that people can click on you and play it - but I'm not going to say I copied you :P

	This is not an IQ test. IQ tests measure intelligence, not knowledge. The year that the French Revolution took place in is knowledge, not intelligence.
