Speaking of Gallardo, Yo definitely put up more than 2.1 WAR last year. Fangraphs had him at 4.6.

@ JumpAroundUW: I went with the Baseball-Reference WAR rating here, but I agree with you that it seems awfully low. I think his low innings and high walks did him in, as well as a less than stellar ERA. I think he'll be much better than that this year though.

A 5.40 ERA and negative WAR from an opening-day starter? Looks like another long year for the Pirates.

It's pretty ridiculous that the Phillies' number four pitcher would be the opening day starter for the majority of teams in baseball.
