| I was thinking for some reason that the Caspian Sea was actually connected to the ocean... |

 | bierhoff64: | Apr 4th, 2012 at 18:18 GMT | | 7 points |
| @pinklily - it borders the black sea which is directly connected to the ocean |

| Surprised by the lack of Laos, I thought all of South East Asia had huge populations. |

| I was surprised by how far up the list Nepal was. I guessed it thinking it would be about 18th! |

| Damn, Kyrgyzstan didn't quite have enough! That would've really skewed the scores if this were a minefield. |

| Great quiz. Was shocked to see that Malawi has more people than Zambia, which is 5 times the size and right next door (so you wouldn't think there were big climactic differences.) |

| South Sudan now deserves a spot in 17th with 10,314,021 people, taking Burundi off the list. |

| One of those quizzes where Kyrgyzstan is actually a possible answer and not just an obligatory guess. |
 | eab21: | Jan 10th, 2013 at 04:18 GMT | | 25 points |
| @Everblue: Not only did I try Kyrgyzstan, I also did a solid 10 minutes of research to prove to myself that it didn't make the cut. |

| wow - a little country like nepal has more people in it than afghanistan, kyrgyzstan, kazakhstan, uzbekistan or mongolia? interesting |
 | Dianea: | Jan 10th, 2013 at 05:24 GMT | | 8 points |
| OUCH... I don't know why... but in my map Ethiopia is not landlocked... perhaps i should get a new map ! ;-) And Uganda was so small i was expecting it to be like 12th or something... Very nice quiz! |
 | Dripsey23: | Jan 10th, 2013 at 07:07 GMT | | 26 points |
| @ Dianea Is Eritrea on your map? It used to be part of Ethiopia and borders the sea. When it became independent, Ethiopia became landlocked. |

| They don't count as population, but last time I went to the Vatican it sure felt like there were 10 million people there. |

| I guess it's time for me to stop thinking of Rwanda as a microstate. It just looks so small on a map right there next to the DRC... |

 | thecheshirecat: | Jan 10th, 2013 at 10:25 GMT | | 3 points |
| @Dianea. An easy thought to have with Ethiopia. It has only become landlocked since Eritrea got its independence in 1993. |
 | Zak6009: | Jan 10th, 2013 at 11:27 GMT | | 15 points |
| Malawi is more populous than Kyrgyzstan? Really? Let alone in the top 10? Just strange seeing as I seldom come across it on any quiz here... well, that meaning I type it but nothing happens. But no Kyrgyzstan bonus? When it's a possible answer?! Sporcsphemy. |

| *Does not guess Azerbaijan. See's Azerbaijan as an answer. Looks at map. See's Azerbaijan border the Caspian Sea*
Does not compute. |
 | ACL: | Jan 10th, 2013 at 14:01 GMT | | 11 points |
| kungfurabbits, the Caspian Sea is an inland lake, there's no ocean outlet. Being landlocked doesn't mean 'not bordering a large body of water', it means having no open ocean access. |

| It's very pedantic of me, but I saw that Czech Republic does not have any commas in the number. I blame it on my OCD! :) |

| I'm surprised to learn how few people Laos actually has. It's not that much smaller than Vietnam which has over 80 million people, but I guess the fact that it's landlocked is probably a big factor in that. I definitely expected to see it on this quiz. |

| @Zak6009: I think that Kyrgyzstan was a bonus answer but it got removed when it was published. |

| @generalshrapnel - I think anyone who can identify an outline map of Chad deserves the free answer! |
 | pmacattack007: | Jan 10th, 2013 at 20:56 GMT | | 1 point |
| @eab21 How did you spend 10 minutes researching the population of Kyrgyzstan? It's called Wikipedia.
@shampoowoody - if you actually look at a full map of Asia, you'll find that Nepal is not actually that small. It just looks small since it's sandwiched between India and China. |
 | osasunaitor: | Jan 10th, 2013 at 21:56 GMT | | 2 points |
| @ChileNoseJam: I think that Chad being the quiz's picture has something to do with it being the most guessed answer, so more people than you think seem to be able to identify its shape. |
