| @baconstud01: Pakistan probably shouldn't appear twice. Stoning is apparently in the Pakistani penal code, but the source claims a state-sanctioned stoning execution has never been carried out in Pakistan (or Iraq). However, "incidents of stoning have been carried out by communities, seemingly encouraged by the existence of the punishment in law". And 1447's guess is correct regarding Somalia. Not state-sanctioned, to the extent there is a "state," but documented in at least 2 cases.
@ulashima, Iraq does not sanction stoning as execution, but it is documented in Iraqi Kurdistan. Typing "Iraq" will also bring up that bonus answer, and I merely put in Iraqi Kurdistan to differentiate, or catch the more exact answer, as opposed to trying to make any political statement. As for Nigeria, stoning has never been carried out in Nigeria, according to the source, but 12 of Nigeria's 36 states have introduced Shariah law and two women have had the sentence imposed. |
