I think you sort of overlooked the fact that this is a 1990s team, so neither Elway's 16 year career or Favre's 20 career have any part of the discussion. I think when naming a 1990s team, QB would have been a really tough call between Elway, Favre, Aikman, and Young.
In games started from 1990-99, it was Aikman 143, Elway 133, Favre 125, Young 115. W/L record is 84-31 (.730) for Young, 82-43 (.656) for Favre, 84-49 (.632) for Elway, 90-53 (.629) for Aikman.
In passer yards per game, it was Favre 239.5, Young 228.6, Elway 226.0, Aikman 206.7. Passer rating was Young 101.2, Favre 87.1, Elway 84.5, Aikman 84.5.
Super Bowls was of course Aikman 3, Elway 2, Young 1, Favre 1. Favre does have better numbers than Elway in pretty much every category but Super Bowls, so Favre probably should have been ahead of Elway, but it's a pretty tough call. |
