CIA trained ‘liberation force’ with elements of Guatemalan military. On June 14, 1954, US planes flown by US pilots strafed Guatemalan towns. Arbenz resigned on June 27, 1954. 􀀉Outcomes of the Counterrevolution: This was one of the first major tests of US Cold War policy in Latin America. This strengthened anti-communist stance in the US. The revolution established the most brutal regime in the hemisphere.
