I would argue Russia, Turkey and Egypt are fairly solid. The rest are debatable.

...France is also a very reasonable candidate, since (as discussed often before on Sporcle) French Guiana etc. are administrated not as overseas territories (like those or the USA, UK etc.) but as a departmnt/prefecture just like the ones in mainland France...

I don't really see Panama being in South America.

I guess the idea with Panama is that the part south of the Canal is in South America. France should definitely be on here - French Guiana is an integral part of France, in the same way that Hawaii is part of the US.

How has Wikipedia become such a strongly disliked source for Sporcle quizzes these days?

Pit_trout: France would work but this is TWO continents while France is on three.

Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are not on 2 continents. If so, then you should include Armenia and Georgia. Both of which also make little sense.

Azerbaijan does work because the continent "boundary" at that point goes across the peaks of the Caucases Mountains. Georgia should be included, too. But not Armenia. Kazakhstan also works because the boundary goes down the Ural mountains until it reaches the Ural River and follows the river into the Caspian Sea so a small western part of Kazakhstan is included in Europe. http://www.alpinegardensociety.net/image_files/onlineshow/sizedEuropeAsia643.JPG

Azerbaijan? really? Also if you include territories, the UK, USA, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, France, and Denmark would be right too.

@Notyal - well, France is on two continents (it's not actually ON North America or Africa, just lumped together). But also, by the logic of France, we need USA (Hawaii in Oceania) and Spain (Africa).

the panama canal is a man made thing. why should that just split the country into two continents?

Of course, you're getting into the contentious issue of whether oceania is a continent. I'd say it's not, for the purposes of this quiz. Georgia should definitely be there, as you have azerbaijan. Indonesia should also be included, split between Asia and Australasia (Australian Continental Plate). France and the UK are on more than 2 continents, so its fine not to have them. Denmark and the Netherlands however have territory in multiple continents (though Denmark not for long) Panama...eh. not really.

@European11: False. The Isthmus of Panama is what is considered the boundary of North and South America, so Panama is partially in South America.
