| This is just further proof of the myth that Indiana is the mecca of all things basketball. KANSAS baby! The fact that KC, Lawrence, and Wichita have hosted a combined 191 NCAA tournament games is just the icing on the cake. James Naismith himself was the first coach at Kansas. His protege, Phog Allen ("The Father of Basketball Coaches"), took over. Allen coached 2 guys named Adolph Rupp (Halstead, KS) and Dean Smith (Emporia, KS) at Kansas. They went on to combine for 1755 wins and 6 national titles at two of the second best basketball regions in the country. Indiana, I will concede to you Bobby Knight and Larry Legend. I can't deny that I wish those guys were from Kansas. But Kansas still blows Indiana out of the water. "Hoosiers" should have been called "Jayhawks". |
